As a football fan, I was always looking to broaden my horizons. When it comes to English football, I am extremely knowledgeable and have a lot of past experiences running YouTube channels, blogs and twitter pages dedicated to them. Therefore, when I first got myself into blogging, I wanted to expand my football knowledge and find a team from abroad that I could follow.
Of course, I could have followed a team from Germany or Spain but the idea was to follow a team where their dedictaed seasons would take place yearly like the Argentinian leagues or the MLS unlikely the Premier League or the Bundesliga. This began my search for a side that I had never really heard of before...
A Brief Overview Of Racing De Cordoba

Racing De Cordoba are a third division football club from Argentina who currently play their football at the Miguel Sancho stadium, which has a capacity of over 15,000. They are based in Cordoba, Argentina which is the second largest state in the country. At the time of writing, they sit six points clear at the top of the table with just three league matches to go, before the play-off system begins. This could see the club promoted to the second tier, if they win their area play-off, and the final promotion play-off match.
With all due respects, the only real link that the football club has to Europe is through a former PSG player and Argentinian international. This is because the former winger Ezequiel Lavezzi's cousin is a footballer for Racing De Cordoba, although he is currently out on loan at fellow third division side Boca Unidos. That man is of course, winger Agustin Lavezzi.
They go by the nickname 'Academy' and are one of the biggest football clubs, outside the Argentinian top flight. In April 2022, they caused one of the biggest shocks of the year when they beat one of the first division's high-flyers San Lorenzo on penalties in the Copa Argentina.
How did you stumble across Racing De Cordoba?
I began writing football blogs back in March 2022, simply because I found myself out of favour when it came to creating and uploading YouTube videos, despite my channel having over 1,400 subscribers. At the same time as beginning my journey, a friend of mine's business had just started to really take off on social media. This company was Surprise Shirts, ran by Louis Jones and his family.
They posted a photo online of the 2020 Racing De Cordoba, breast cancer awareness shirt and I am proud to admit, it's one of the nicest looking football shirts I've ever seen. I was lucky enough to gain one of these shirts in a mystery box and that immediately gave me a club to look into. I had never heard of Racing De Cordoba and I now owe the guys at Surprise Shirts so much credit for allowing me to kickstart my journey.
I chose to follow Racing De Cordoba for three different reasons. Firstly, it was purely down to following my long-term goal of finding a team that I had never heard of, as a way to further expand my footballing knowledge. Secondly, the reaction and love I received from the fans of Racing De Cordoba from the very beginning has been utterly mind-blowing for so many reasons and I cannot thank the fans enough for that, Finally, to put the icing on the cake, as a personal touch, I also share the same birthday as the football club.
I began by doing the occasional match report, until July 2022, when I took it one step further, and launched the clubs English page on Twitter, TikTok and Instagram (More information in the dedicated club section on the menu). Here, the recognition began to take off, and after two months, I now have over 350 followers on Twitter, 3,000+ Views on TikTok and 150+ Followers on Instagram and we are only just getting started.
I cannot put into words just how thankful I am to every single fan of Racing De Cordoba, who will definitely be reading this article. I also cannot encourage everyone enough to take an interest in sides outside of your typical area of expertise. It doesn't have to be a team abroad, it could be as simple as following your local non-league side but there are some very passionate football clubs in the world, just waiting to be properly discovered and of course, I would love that side to be Racing De Cordoba more than anyone.
Thanks for reading and please make sure to go to the dedicated section and follow all three links as we are looking to try and reach 400 Twitter followers before the 2022 season comes to a conclusion.
